As of 2010, about 3,250 people resided here, and the settlement of the community can be traced back to the 1850s. Winnsboro’s rich history extends even further back to the days of the Caddo Indians and French settlements, and it was named in honor of founder John Winn. Today, Winnsboro is served by the Winnsboro Independent School District and the Gillet Memorial Library.

There are several interesting places to visit in Winnsboro. Local produce is for sale at the Winnsboro Farmers’ Market, and visitors in search of a unique gift might like a trip to Main Street Antiques and Collectibles or Finders Keepers Antiques, Gifts, and Consignment. The Copper Leaf Day Spa & Salon is a great place to get receive some pampering, rest, and relaxation, and families with children might like to check out the Falster Farm and Cattle Ranch.

Due to varied weather conditions, Winnsboro residents are wise to invest in both home heating and cooling systems. While the winter months are mild compared to other parts of the country, there are still days in which temperatures hit the freezing point or lower. A gas or electric furnace will keep indoor conditions warm until the weather warms up in March and April. Regular furnace maintenance will reduce repair costs and lessen energy bills, as equipment that is maintained properly runs more efficiently.

Summer weather is drastically different in the region, as thermostat readings will quickly rise during the spring. Average daily highs reach the mid-90s from June through August, and with oppressive humidity levels, many residents retreat indoors for much of the season. A central air conditioning system can help residents to stay safe and cool throughout the duration of the season.
