Mount Pleasant is the largest city in Titus County, Texas, and it also serves as the county seat. As of 2010, this Northeast Texas community was home to over 15,560 residents. Mt. Pleasant is located about 80 miles northeast of Tyler along U.S. Highway 271, and it is about 130 miles northeast of Dallas. The community is served by three school districts – Mount Pleasant, Chapel Hill, and Harts Bluff – and Northeast Texas Community College is also located in the county.
There are many reasons to visit Mt. Pleasant. Several museums call the community home, including the Mid America Flight Museum, the Edison Phonograph Museum, and the Titus County Museum. Mt. Pleasant is only a few minutes away from several Northeast Texas lakes, and Lake Bob Sandlin State Park offers swimming, picnicking, fishing, and boating. After shopping in historic Downtown Mt. Pleasant, visitors might also like to drive a few minutes out of town to Los Pinos Ranch Vineyards to enjoy local wines and picturesque scenery.
